Questions

Before you ask

Where does the score come from?

From Open PageRank, a free, public index that applies the PageRank algorithm to the Common Crawl web graph. Scores run from 0 to 10 on a logarithmic scale, so moving from 3 to 4 is much harder than moving from 1 to 2. It is not Google's own PageRank, which has not been public since 2016, and it is not the same number as Ahrefs DR or Moz DA, though the three usually agree on the order of a set of domains.

Why does my competitor score higher?

Almost always because more websites link to them, from more varied and more authoritative places. The number of links matters less than the number of distinct linking domains and their own strength. The emailed report explains the gap and the kinds of links that close it.

How often does the score change?

The index refreshes roughly monthly. We cache results for thirty days, so a check today and a check next week will show the same figure.
